Battle of The Arts challenges schools to submit a video recording of their best performers. Exceptional entries will then be featured in an online showcase that celebrates the incredible talent within Sydney Catholic Schools.
Battle of The Arts is open to students from Year 5 – Year 12. Performance submissions can be in Dance, Drama, Music or Voice. Participants are not limited to any particular musical genre, theatrical or dance style.
Please note that performance submissions are limited to a maximum of 2 entries per school and schools must adhere to the current SCS COVID-19 Safety Plan in regard to performance and ensembles at all times.
Schools are encouraged to host their own talent quests to determine their best performers.
Teachers enrol via the registration form on the CaSPA website to indicate participation and details of their performance submission/s.
Once registered, each school will be invited to join the 2020 Battle of The Arts Google Classroom.
Materials to help shape performance submissions will be made available to all registered schools from the 2020 Battle of The Arts Google Classroom and from the Teacher Resources portal on the CaSPA Website.
Term 4 Week 4 Friday 6 November: Performance submissions close. Videos must be uploaded to the 2020 Battle of The Arts Google Classroom Drive Folder. (The name of the video file you submit must contain the following information: 2020 BOA/School Name/Performance Title.)
Each performance submission must not exceed 5 mins duration.
Term 4 Week 5 Friday 13 November: Battle of The Arts online showcase performers announced. Showcase videos broadcast via the CaSPA website and CaSPA TV.
Selection of showcase performers will be based equally upon technical ability, artistic presentation and expression, and quality of sound and vision.
A panel of judges will determine the 2 most outstanding performances. (1 primary and 1 secondary.)
Term 4 Week 6: Public voting open to determine the ‘People’s Choice’ performance.
Term 4 Week 7 Monday 23 November: The 2 most outstanding performances and the ‘People’s Choice’ announced.
The 2 most outstanding performances will receive a plaque for their school and an audio/visual recording experience in the studios of Southern Cross Catholic Vocational College Burwood culminating in a professionally produced video of their performance.
The ‘People’s Choice’ performance will receive a plaque for their school.
The Battle of The Arts Showcase falls within the copyright parameters as determined by the APRA AMCOS ARIA A/V Schools Licence and no further permissions are required.
